Bent for Solstice

Solstice poem

Gathering Stones Strung on Threads

Daily
the dark
encroaches
the day`light
seeps like rain
thru arid soil
to old roots
pale with
death

Timely
the candle
in a window
beacon of hope
to any wayfarers
shadow`caught
by the night
bound for
solstice

“When the candle is burning, who looks at the wick?
When the candle is out, who needs it?
But the world is a wasteland and chaos,
and a life without sacrifice is abomination.” ~ Annie Dillard
