Ancestral chieftain ritually bound to honor natural forces
Protect the seasons, the directions, the winds over the seas
Passing that mastery to students of physical magical realms
Thunderous laughter is carried and amplified on the breeze
Followed by flashing bolts of lightening, blinding light overwhelms

Black and White

light in that dark

light in that dark

Authority can be dangerous when it is placed in the hands of bullies and punks
Thugs enjoy the feeling they have when they frighten and terrify the public
It is time to call out dishonesty and extortion by law enforcement officials
Who break the law and take the law as an excuse to rob society of basic dignity
Hiding behind their badges they misrepresent reality to emphasize their abilities
They have no relationship with the truth, but are overcome with corrupt power

Double Agony

April 16, 2015 4 Comments

My mother’s sister Ruth had a thick southern accent and her own oxygen tank.
She lived inside her house, dressed in fancy sleepwear and slippers
Her job was that of a full time hypochondriac, sick and tired of everything
Her twin sister also suffered greatly from that malady of imagined illness
Each tried to overstate the case of their eminent demise and terrible suffering
Although they lived hundreds of miles apart, they copied each others’ diseases
It always made me wonder if they had made a pact before birth to be dramatically unwell

Passages

Passages connect the present to the past, fantasy to reality
Art makes waves in every moment, cascading past boundaries
Did your wishes come true then vanish without sustaining life?
Do you know on what level you made agreements with strife?

Your essence continues to slowly distill itself into a concentrate
Unoriginal thoughts of little value bubble up, then evaporate
Did you think your ride would always be smooth until the end?
Do you possess the stamina to make solemn truth your friend?

Heidi’s Haroset

Heidi in the hood

Heidi in the hood

My next door neighbor Heidi is the perfect friend

Back fence border crossing is a frequent event

We share garden cuttings, flowers, seeds, and fruit

We taste each others’ recipes, passing portions of special foods

Each year at Passover I accept her yeast and other puffed up sin

I take it to my house so her great symbolic unleavening can begin

Heidi downtown

Heidi downtown

I am richly rewarded for turning cookies into nothing

I receive a container of Heidi’s haroset, the mortar of the Seder

Chocolate and  cinnamon sugar covered matzoh bites are also my to savor

It is such a deal, believe me, to have my favorite items catered

No sweet red wine or reading all night, I am simply favored

Plants connect to us and each other in magical expressions

Subtle healing, warnings, prophecy, psychic communications

Signature of each season and offering can be read like a heavenly

Treasure map aligned with our purpose as well as the cosmic

Meditation with a flower provides insight into the fleeting moment

Petals form quickly then begin to fall, revealing seeds of the future

Renewal

thorny issues

thorny issues

Renew  belief in daily magic and mystical retreat
Throw caution over the cliff into the turgid water far below
If time waits and your ideals simmer on low heat for too long
Regret and confiscated creativity will overshadow your talents

Hourglass of weakening resolve spills multi colored sands
Through the narrow opening, sliding down toward eternity
With clear, smooth and unequivocably final gravitas

Alchemy begins with me, a vessel for every need and purpose

My heartbeat connects to ancient chains, invisible bonds, and flying

Rhythmic rangers ride through dreams, telling tales of other planets,

Hold on to the reins and plot your flightplan, check your engines,

Clear the active runway for take off  and ascend to your fated glory

Hawks and Hummers

April 1, 2015 2 Comments

hawk and hummer

hawk and hummer

Hawks and hummers build peace on earth in the pine tree

Nesting next to each other for social and security reasons

Flying out at dawn in search of different kinds of sustenance

Flowers gently lift their cups of nectar while mice scatter and hide

The tree takes care of hidden family members not yet prepared to fly

Above our heads and beyond our vision the world revolves and evolves
