Why Follow Jessica Seinfeld @jessseinfeld?

January 4, 2016 2 Comments

There are several reasons to follow Jessica Seinfeld (aka Mrs. Jerry Seinfeld) on instagram.  The most obvious is that she is at least as funny if not funnier than her famous husband, the comic.  She is also a mother and cookbook author.  She has two dachshunds who appear in her stream in costumes with modulated voices.  The effect is stunning.  They sound a little bit like the Chipmunks, but funnier.  She always entertains, but she is also very instructive:

Her no nonsense approach to eating and her high comedy make her my favorite stream to watch.  I highly recommend her work to anyone.  You get to see the world with the Seinfeld family and share their ups, downs, and jokes.  I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do, gentle reader.

His Holiness on Instagram

February 20, 2014 3 Comments

The coolest monk on earth has opened an instagram account. His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet is now updating his travels with photos.  This is so much more exciting that Pope Francis’ twitter streams, although I do applaud @Pontifex  for multi-lingual tweeting to anyone who wants to stay in touch with him.  If you have been in the presence of His Holiness (I have had the very good fortune of doing so in 3 different teachings) you never forget the way he laughs and smiles. He is infectious and inspires this adoration instantly by giggling.  I have seen him teach in Tibetan, and even in the middle of serious rituals he jokes and giggles with his students.  By the time we had our translations in our earbuds the Tibetans were laughing at his jokes.  He connects on all levels with all people.  Those who understand and practice the fine points of Buddhism learn deeply and some probably glimpse enlightenment in his presence.  Those of us who come in relative ignorance to his teachings may come away with less refined ideas, but we are also subject to instant enlightenment in his presence.  The ancient texts he uses for study require lifetimes of study and meditation to do them justice.  When he flashes a smile from that cute baby monk face he touches everyone in exactly the same way.  Now we can all follow his smile around the world as he keeps us updated.

He enjoys a hobby in horology, and since his youth has taken watches apart to rebuild them.  I believe he is a geeky monk who appreciates technology and wants to understand and use it to the max.  What ever his reason may be, I am following him, and suggest that the gentle readers might want to check out his account.  He is changing the world with his smile.

Look at This Instapam11

I recently joined instagram when I learned the 15 second videos became truly instant.  I enjoy the challenge of making a real statement in that period of time.  I haven’t done it yet, but have seen others who do.  It will be challenging to story board and shoot some funny, informative, or entertaining 15 second shows. I have just entered the zone, but can see the potential.  I do do see some feet and selfies, but there are also cool things and places I want to see.  However, after hearing this song, I feel pressure to stop posting grams of my food and be purposeful and creative with the new toy.  We shall see how that goes.  It seems like the wave of the future. Careful preproduction has never meant so much.

The New 15 Second Rule

June 22, 2013 4 Comments

We have been liberated from long boring presentations we don’t watch anyhow. The new 15 second rule is not about food that has been on the floor. It is about editing. If you can’t express your idea in 15 seconds, you need editing. Instagram has met the public where their attention span is. It is a fun , effortless way to find if you really have content or if you are just taking up digital space.  Artemisia, coon hound, was keen to try it out to portray her content.
