I Endorse Deborah Ardell Hill

November 6, 2013 1 Comment

I have known Ardell Hill for about 20 years now. We met while working at Canyon Ranch in Tucson.  She was a massage therapist and I was a fitness instructor there.  We  were both active in the 1980’s in public access TV production downtown.  Over the years we have travelled together to many destinations and had some unforgettable experiences.  I admire the way she stays busy educating herself in all the different touch modalities, and now in thermography.  I helped her cut out tiny laminated pancreas and liver pictures to velcro onto the foot chart in class.  I was the lucky model for many a class in LaStone therapy and Stoned Soul, Ardell’s signature reflexology class that includes hot and cold stones on the feet, hands, and ears.  I have enjoyed many hours on the table as the lucky client of her massage practice.  When I visited Oakland recently I was the model for a LaStone class she was giving in her home.  It is fun to be the model because although there is talking during your treatment, you get to learn something about the system along the way as well.

Ardell is knowledgeable as well as intuitively trained to do exquisite bodywork.  If you have a chance to work with her to improve your level of wellness i recommend that you take it.  She has many levels and layers of talent, but all of it leads to a greater understanding of wellness.  She is just about my favorite body worker in the universe.

I Endorse Julia Keller

Julia Keller is a skilled and talented bodyworker with a specialty not often found. She is a licensed aesthetician and massage therapist, but her passion is Ayurvedic medicine.  I enjoyed a beautiful 90 minutes of bliss on her table yesterday during my shirodara treatment.  Her office space is quiet, spacious, and inviting. The feeling in the body after the treatment is spacious and free.  I left the sesame oil in my long hair until bed time, which was a very healthy drink for my hair and scalp.  A day after I enjoyed the lovely feelings of being on the table I still notice a mental peace and a revived sense of energy in my thoughts and body.  The only part of shirodara that is difficult is the end. Eventually all the oil runs out of the vessel, just when the only thing you want for the rest of your life is to have the stream flow on your forehead.  It is like the end of a fireworks show; it has to end.  Lucky for me, Julia practices near my home in Tucson.   This treatment is very beneficial after a cleanse or a trauma, jet lag, or a shock.  It has a very balancing and stress reducing effect.  You can find Julia’s business, A Glowing You, near River Road and First Avenue in Tucson.

Dennie Allin, LMT, at Supportive Care for Healing

As the privileged substitute for the Supportive Care for Healing at the U of A Cancer Center I was called last week to fill a cancellation for a massage appointment . I normally go for all the exotics, but it had been a long time since I had had a regular massage, so I accepted. The charming, talented and way cool Ms. Allin delivered on all counts. She has a regular practice at Tucson Touch Therapies on Pima Street. She has been associated with supportive cancer care for many years. An organization called Sunstone brought supportive care to hospital patients years ago and she started with them. My little spa world at the hospital is a remnant of that Sunstone energy, surviving very well. I am the luckiest of hospital spa bunnies because my care is subsided and I don’t even have to go to cancer doctors. Those of you who know me personally will not be surprised that I have found an excellent niche as a sub. I am a value shopper of the most discriminating kind. I am thrifty, but never cheap. This is the best deal in the healthcare universe. I am now so good at my job that this week I called before the cancellation was made for my Friday acupuncture session.  So if you want a fabulous healing hands on treatment call the TucsonTouch Therapies office at 520 881-7337 and ask for Dennie.  If we start to feel the need for another sub at the hospital, I will let you know.  For the moment I have it covered, and I am very happy with my position.
