Recovery in the Deep End

August 9, 2014 , , , , ,

When I go to the pool to play I follow no set of exercises.  I generally go to the deep end and do a lot of twisting and large movements.  To Floatli is to find balance and then play your way to fitness and sporty fun.  Right now I have injured my foot by walking too much on holiday. It only hurts when I put weight on it, so the deep end is the place for me.  I can still enjoy full range of motion (and beyond what gravity will allow) while keeping that tired tendon in my foot from overworking while it heals.  I was getting kind of cranky on the last few days of my vacation when my aching feet slowed down my pace and I was away from my pool that I love so much.  Water is both healing and soothing.  The deep end of the pool is a lot like the deep end of life.  It is best to know when you can handle depth, and when it is a good idea to stay in the shallow end of things.  I am happy and lucky to have my own private deep end to use as I see fit.  It keeps my mood up while I recover full use of my footsies.  Gravity is fine, but has limits, especially if we are injured.  What do you like to do when your body needs to heal?

What do you think?

I like the music “The blue danube” on your video a lot. When I don’t feel well I like a hot bath as it seems I like to go to the water too. And when my feet hurt (they did after 4 days in Rome at about 12 hours on my feet daily which is totally crazy if you are not a soldier) I like an extra careful pedicure.

I want a Swiss pedicure too, after a dip at Bad Ragaz or Zurzach..I want it so much I think I will make it happen.

I do pedicure by myself. And Zurzach is really for ANCIENT people, Pamela 🙂

St Verena is my favorite person there, and she is both old and dead in the back of a church downtown.

I only know the bath in Zurzach. Was there twice and did not really like it. But apparently it has been restored. Verena? I know that near Solothurn there is a gorge called St. Verena.

She came from Egypt and lived in a cave in Solothurn. She is a big deal on the Rhineland mystic trail. People went to her grave on pilgrimage for centuries..she is short. I attended some new age concert with scent and color changes in the town which was seriously avant-garde. The place is crawling with German workers.

I used to play golf a lot and walked so I developed planter facia I think that’s what they call it/ I was told to have surgery but I read a lot and bought pads at the drug store and cut them to fit my arches/ it worked every time/ the relief on my arches allowed healing/ now I do not do golf and walk as much so no problems/ I do yoga and mow and work on farm/ plenty for me CR

My problem here came from running around, including hilly terrain and many stairs, about 100% more than my usual load. The hills made a difference that I should have respected early in the trip..I am very close to done with this healing which was self initiated by overuse. Glad I did not go any farther than just a strain.

great therapeutic ideas Pam. I wish I had the access to a pool that you do! Hope you heal up fast. I think the pool place is phenomenal.. It looks so lovely. Do you make much use of that spa in the corner?

Every day..in fact in about a month the pool will chill and not be useful, but the jacuzzi is deep and has a bench with stairs, making it perfect for Floatli.
